Frequently Asked Questions
How often do I have to visit?
After your consultation Dr. Perillo will let you know if there is something chiropractic can do to help you. You will receive an examination and based on those findings and your history a personalized treatment plan will be developed for you. No one person will get better the same amount of time as another person. There are several factors that determine how quick you will respond to chiropractic care.
Do I always have to be “cracked”?
There are many different means of treating someone with chiropractic care. There is manipulation which you may refer to as the cracking of bones. Bones are not actually cracked. The sound you may sometimes hear during and adjustment(manipulation) are gases escaping from the joint spaces. In addition to manipulation there is cold laser therapy, physical modalities such as ultrasound, muscle stimulation, heat and cold, massage or soft tissue work.
Do you just help neck and back problems?
Chiropractic is most commonly thought of for conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system (neck, back, hip, ankle, wrist, shoulder, knee). However, chiropractic is an effective and noninvasive way of treating : headaches, allergies, ear infections, insomnia, pregnancy conditions. Chiropractic is safe for infants to elderly persons.
Will the treatment be painful?
Adjustments are not usually painful; however, if there is inflammation in the area being treated there may be some soreness.
Do you have to adjust my neck in order to get a proper treatment?
No. There will be a specific treatment tailored to your complaints and problems that may or may not include adjusting your neck.
Is it like getting a massage?
No. Massage is a deep pressure and working of the muscles in the body; chiropractic is manipulating the joints in your body.
I’ve never been to a chiropractor, what can I expect at my first visit?
